Your Role

As a Human Resources team member, you’ll help create the culture and associate experience that enables and inspires us to do our best each day in serving our customers, communities, and each other—now and in the future.

The Employee Relations Manager is a key partner collaborating with HR Business Partners to advise leaders on matters of performance, conflict, conduct, and discipline. The ER Manager works to maintain positive employee relationships while ensuring compliance with the law. This includes facilitating prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflicts and addressing issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with Genworth’s Mission, Vision, policies, practices, and overall business strategy. This position reports to the leader of HR Compliance.

What you will be doing
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing support, coaching and advice to managers regarding performance management, employee discipline, policy interpretation, and termination processes.
  • Conducts complex workplace investigations related to employee claims and provides resolution recommendations to the supporting HR and Operations partners. Prepares summary reports, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, at all levels of the organization; use reason and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations; present facts and recommendations verbally and in writing; plan, design, implement.
  • Advises business management and leadership on ER issues using independent judgment and critical thinking while upholding company values and culture, reducing company risk, and ultimately improving the team member experience.
  • Consults with management in developing employee performance improvement plans.
  • Partners with Senior HR leaders, HRBPs and internal counsel on corrective actions, documentation, performance coaching, or other actions for team members.
  • Makes recommendations to internal Legal counsel & managers regarding all employee corrective actions and performance management. Providing substantive review and editing of corrective action documentation.
  • Partners with external Legal Employment counsel as needed for escalated matters.
  • Tracks relevant employee data, metrics & trends to help define process improvements and approaches.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Future willingness to travel (approx. 2-3 days per quarter with occasional overnight travel)
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Human Development, Psychology, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience demonstrated a proven track record of managing and resolving complex employee relations matters in a multi-state business environment to include 3 years in an HR Business Partner or Generalist role.
  • Human resources certification (SHRM/HRCI/CERP)
  • Deep understanding of State and Federal US employment law, EEO regulations, workplace anti-discrimination and accommodations related laws, including Title VII, the ADA, the FMLA and their state law equivalents.
  • Highly skilled in workplace investigations, negotiation, conflict management and employee relations procedures and processes.
  • Investigations experience in a remote/Hybrid work environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (Workday, ServiceNow, PeopleSoft etc.)

Additional Information

The base salary pay range for this role starts at a minimum rate of $80,200 up to the maximum of $171,400. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 10% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.

Job Summary: We are seeking a process oriented and people driven Employee Relations and Compliance Specialist to join our HR team. This role plays a key part in maintaining a positive, ethical, and legally compliant work environment by managing employee relations matters and supporting compliance initiatives across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, Psychology, or related field. Legal background is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in employee relations, HR compliance, or related areas.
  • Solid understanding of labor and employment law, especially in (insert country, e.g., Brazil, U.S., etc.).
  • Experience in conducting workplace investigations and managing sensitive employee matters.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and propose structured solutions.
  • Fluent in English; other languages are a plus (especially Spanish or Portuguese, depending on the region).

The Senior Lifecycle Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions independently manages all employee exits for Remote's external employees with a focus on legal compliance, excellent quality and providing delightful customer service. Additionally, the specialist provides first-level Employee Relations support, guiding clients through workplace concerns and coordinating appropriate resources.

As part of a larger employee Lifecycle team, the Senior Specialist is also expected to drive process improvements and initiatives in line with Remote's strategic goals and values.

What you bring
  • Extensive experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner, with generalist HR competencies and exposure across the employee lifecycle.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR/labour relations/employment law considered a plus.
  • Proven experience with a strong background in independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits (terminations) with care, sensitivity and legal compliance; and providing comprehensive HR advice and guidance on employment laws and regulations, spanning various jurisdictions.
  • Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline approaches, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, analyze complex HR issues and apply problem-solving skills to independently (occasionally with minimal supervision) arrive at solutions, undertake research and translate this into usable team resources, provide practical solutions and effectively communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders when operating in ambiguous and unfamiliar environments.
  • Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills, with the ability to independently lead difficult conversations to a positive outcome, often where parties have conflicting interests, while conveying authority and expertise as the representative of Remote, and maintaining professionalism and strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits with minimal supervision across multiple international jurisdictions, prioritizing a superior offboarding experience for Remote's clients and employees.
  • Provide sound and trusted guidance with an elevated level of knowledge on key jurisdictions, and manage clients' requests on various HR matters, including but not limited to termination, resignation and transfer procedures, employment contracts, and redundancy processes, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
  • Independently lead and facilitate meetings with clients and external employees, including but not limited to workforce reduction consultation meetings, administrative hearings, negotiations in separations and settlements, providing guidance on terminations, and delivering termination outcomes.

  • Conduct thorough preliminary assessments of workplace concerns, identifying key facts, applicable local regulations, and potential paths forward.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for internal and external stakeholders on employee relations matters, ensuring appropriate handling of complex cases.

The base salary range may be subject to change.

Job Summary: We are seeking a process oriented and people driven Employee Relations and Compliance Specialist to join our HR team. This role plays a key part in maintaining a positive, ethical, and legally compliant work environment by managing employee relations matters and supporting compliance initiatives across the organization.
