Job Description

The Network Support Engineer is responsible for providing expert technical assistance to clients using VyOS networking solutions. This role involves troubleshooting complex network issues, validating client concerns through functional and performance testing, and maintaining comprehensive support documentation. TheNetwork Support Engineer will collaborate closely with internal teams to escalate critical cases, enhance support workflows, and contribute to the continuous improvement of VyOS products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for handling client-reported issues, ensuring efficient communication and resolution.
  • Monitor and follow up on escalated issues, ensuring timely responses and satisfactory outcomes for all involved parties.
  • Document all client interactions, technical findings, and resolutions in the ticketing system to ensure accurate case history and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform functional, regression, and performance testing to replicate and analyze client-reported issues and validate potential fixes.
  • Create PoC configurations and setups to address specific client needs, documenting implementation and testing results for validation.
  • Assist clients in configuring and optimizing VyOS deployments, providing tailored advice to meet their specific networking needs.
  • Conduct initial debugging and troubleshooting, utilizing tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, and system logs to identify root causes of issues.
  • Develop simple scripts, patches, or configurations as required to resolve client-reported issues or support client-specific use cases.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including developers and network engineers, to facilitate the resolution of complex or escalated issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for critical incidents reported by clients, delivering detailed reports to internal stakeholders for resolution or improvement.
  • Provide detailed and structured feedback to internal teams on recurring client issues, suggesting improvements in features or usability.
  • Maintain a comprehensive support knowledge base, including troubleshooting guides, known issues, and best practices for resolving common problems.
  • Test and validate feature updates, bug fixes, or patches before delivering them to clients to ensure they meet client-specific requirements.
  • Propose enhancements to support workflows, tools, and processes to streamline ticket handling and improve client satisfaction.

Requirements

Skills

  • Proficiency in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPN, Firewalling, NAT).
  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based networking solutions, preferably VyOS.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using tools like tcpdump, Wireshark, and system logs.
  • Familiarity with functional, regression, and performance testing methods.
  • Cloud knowledge: AWS, Azure and/or GCP
  • Tools like Ansible and Terraform
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and configuration tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux-based OS as administrator.
  • Knowledge of support ticketing systems and documentation best practices.

Experience

  • 3+years of experience in network support, technical support, or a similar role.
  • Previous experience working with VyOS or other open-source networking solutions is a plus.
  • Experience in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues in production environments.
  • Exposure to cloud networking and virtualization technologies is desirable.

Work Conditions and Compensation

Fully Remote Work: This 100% remote position allows you to work anywhere.

Flexible Work Schedule: We offer a flexible work schedule that allows you to manage your time while ensuring effective collaboration across our globally distributed teams. The official workday starts between 8 AM and 11 AM (employee local time) and ends between 5 PM and 8 PM (employee local time). We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Support Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for providing advanced-level support for our global data network, serving as level 3 support for all network-related tasks and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and deploy LAN/WAN network infrastructure and ensure its reliability and security.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy LAN/WAN network infrastructure
  • Provide 3rd level troubleshooting for all LAN/WAN alerts and issues
  • Maintain all monitoring and reporting systems
  • Produce and maintain documentation for all systems deployed
  • Perform on-call duty for non-business hours support as per shift assignments
  • Perform administrative tasks pertaining to time entry and status reporting
  • Configure and install various network devices and services
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades
  • Monitor performance, system availability, and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a network support role
  • CCNP Certification required

  • Experience in troubleshooting complex network issues
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco network devices
  • Experience with Next Gen Firewalls, Cisco ISE, and wireless technologies
  • Knowledge of routing protocols, LAN switching, and TCP/IP protocol suite
  • Experience with network security practices
  • Experience with firewall cloud services, Zscaler preferred

Prestar suporte técnico presencial a incidentes e problemas de rede (LAN, WAN, WLAN).

Realizar diagnóstico, troubleshooting e correção de falhas em equipamentos Cisco (roteadores, switches, Access Points e WLC).

Monitorar e analisar o desempenho da rede utilizando ferramentas de Observabilidade como: ThousandEyes, entre outras.

Garantir documentação técnica atualizada dos ambientes e procedimentos.

Cumprir os SLA’s e escalar chamados quando necessário.

Apoiar na instalação e substituição de equipamentos de rede no local.

Qualificações

Formação técnica ou superior em Redes, TI, Engenharia, ou áreas correlatas.

Certificação CCNP

Experiência comprovada de no mínimo 03 anos em suporte técnico com equipamentos Cisco

Domínio de protocolos e tecnologias: VLAN, STP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ACLs, HSRP, DHCP, NAT, TCP/IP.

About The Role

The Network Support Engineer will be responsible for monitoring network performance, both transmission and IP, as well as the underlying infrastructure. You will act on alarms and troubleshoot issues, including incidents reported by customers. Collaborating with third-party providers, you will perform in-depth troubleshooting and coordinate joint efforts to resolve incidents. Additionally, you will coordinate planned maintenance, suggest best practice changes, and contribute to the organization's knowledge database, ensuring optimal network performance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer services per platform and act both on alarm-generated, as well as customer-initiated incidents, and conduct troubleshooting
  • Interact with third-party providers (hardware, network, FLM) in the course of troubleshooting
  • Own and coordinate efforts for your incident by performing in-depth analysis and troubleshooting, including joint troubleshooting with vendor or customer
  • Coordinate ongoing planned maintenance
  • Follow and suggest changes for best practices, contribute to knowledge database

Requirements

  • Solid foundation and expertise in operational knowledge on current platforms IP (Cisco, Arista, Juniper), Mobile Data and Transmission (fiber and xWDM) (Infinera, Ciena)
  • Strong technical know-how and skills in troubleshooting (e.g., TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, QoS, DWDM)
  • Experience working in an international telecom environment (NOC, Technical Support)
  • Demonstrated ability to take on operational leadership, making immediate decisions and executing them effectively
  • Strong analytical capabilities and a drive to transform information into fact-based knowledge
  • Exceptional teamwork skills with a strong sense of responsibility, actively contributing to the success of the team
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey information and collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Fluent professional English and Spanish
