About the project:

How your day-to-day work will look like

Contribute to the design and implementation of software solutions for web-based app development.

Collaborate on the definition and development of technical solutions that improve existing features or enhance architectural quality, such as optimizing performance, scalability and user experience for Crunchyroll’s applications.

Identify performance bottlenecks and areas of improvement in the codebase that impact user experience or development efficiency, and work with engineering leadership and your team to propose and implement solutions.

Maintain high coding standards and follow best practices in web development, contributing to a culture of engineering excellence within the team.

Participate in design and code reviews, providing feedback to ensure web product delivery and agreement on architectural strategies across the team.

Support a culture of operational excellence by focusing on efficient and maintainable engineering practices in your daily work and participating in the team’s on-call rotation to help diagnose issues affecting customers in production.

This would make you the ideal candidate

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Previous experience developing web-based applications with frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.

Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass or Less.

Experience with Redux, MobX, or RxJS.

Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Sandbar's mission is to improve the health of the global financial system by fighting money laundering and other financial crimes.

By law, financial institutions must monitor transactions for illicit activity. However, most institutions find it difficult to do so effectively. Roughly 6T is laundered every year and 180B is spent on anti-money-laundering efforts by US institutions. Despite this, less than 1% of laundered money is identified correctly. We are also seeing many systems produce false-positive rates of over 95%. Consequently, banks and the government must spend extra time and resources on extraneous investigations, taking away resources from finding criminals.

Product

To achieve our goal, we ingest and standardize millions of messy data points coming from financial institutions that may sign up for the service. Once we have standardized and ingested the data, we can run complex calculations on it, checking for suspicious behavior and building a score around the riskiness of a given profile. If anything is found, we can surface that to our clients. By providing information accessibility, building intuitive workflows, allowing for custom processing, and curating accurate data, we can reduce the false-positive rate of our calculations, and reduce the amount of work dedicated to a given investigation.

We are looking for engineers who are excited about building a company from the ground up. As a founding engineer at Sandbar, you'll be responsible for defining and building features in our product to enable our customers to model and detect suspicious activity on their platforms. You'll work cross-functionally, collaborating with members of the team who have expertise in the subject matter, product management, design, infrastructure and security, to solve real-world problems our customers face. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer with expertise in embedded systems, robotics, and computer vision to support the design and deployment of ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) platforms used for inspection and maintenance in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, other single-board computers, and a strong command of C++, Python, and OpenCV. You will play a key role in expanding our ROV capabilities through advanced sensor integration, electronic system development, and vision-based automation.





JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the development of embedded software solutions for ROV control, data acquisition, and real-time processing.
• Program and interface with microcontrollers and single-board computers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, etc.).
• Integrate and manage diverse sensors (sonar, IMU, depth sensors, environmental sensors, etc.) into ROV platforms.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to define and maintain the electronics architecture of underwater robotic systems.
• Ensure robust data communication and control between topside systems and subsea units.
• Conduct testing, calibration, and field validation of ROV systems in offshore and renewable environments.
• Maintain technical documentation and support deployment teams during inspection missions.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of robotic systems and automated machinery.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of underwater robotics, ROV operation principles, and industrial inspection use cases.
• Industry experience in oil & gas or offshore renewable energy inspection and maintenance.
