OverviewAbout the Role: As a Software Engineer at BWZ you are responsible for the whole development process, starting with discovering, planning and developing, ending with testing and deploying. You will work in an environment that offers freedom with responsibility, and encourages simplicity with risk taking. You will be working in BWZ's Tech Team, highly involved in the development of our back-end systems and integrations (using Node.js, Python, AWS, etc), and also participating in the development and architecture of our multi-site Web Platform (built in WordPress) and our Ad Tech Platform (built in Ruby on Rails), among other systems and products. You can work remotely or in a flexible regime if you are in Curitiba, Brazil. Our teams work in the PST time zone, and your hours should be partially compatible with it.
What You’ll Be DoingReporting to the Technology Director, you will work in the BWZ Labs Team and closely with the Web Platform. You will develop internal systems used by dozens of employees, as well as customer-facing systems used by thousands of clients. You will have time to research and learn new technologies to make suggestions and implementations that fit our product needs to perform and scale.

- Proven track record of full stack development, covering frontend, backend, and deployment
- Strong experience working with CMS platforms, particularly WordPress (custom themes, plugins, REST API, headless setups)
- Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and how to structure large-scale applications
- Experience with backend development in Node.js, PHP, or similar languages
- Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and how to optimize queries for performance
- Good understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar) and modern deployment pipelines
- Experience with AWS-based architectures (EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudFront)
- Familiarity with Cloudflare or similar platforms for caching, performance, and security
- Hands-on experience with headless CMS approaches, connecting WordPress with frontend frameworks like Next.js or SolidJS
- Strong grasp of performance optimization for high-traffic websites (Core Web Vitals, CDN strategies, server-side rendering)
- Knowledge of MVC or component-based frameworks
- Experience developing and consuming APIs, including GraphQL
- Comfort with writing automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and implementing CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to SEO best practices and accessibility standards for modern web platforms
