About the role
As a Database Migration Specialist, you will spearhead the transformation of cloud-based databases into high-performance, self-hosted solutions, delivering cost savings and stronger operational control. You'll lead end-to-end migration strategies, optimize performance, and ensure robust security, while collaborating with a skilled, innovative team. This role offers a unique chance to shape critical infrastructure, expand expertise in PostgreSQL/MySQL, and make a lasting impact on system resilience and efficiency.
What you will do
- Plan & Assess: Audit current RDS setup, run cost analysis, define migration strategy, risk plan, and infra requirements;
- Build & Secure: Configure self-hosted DB servers, implement HA clustering/replication, harden security, and deploy monitoring/alerting with automated backups;
- Migrate & Validate: Execute zero-downtime migration, update app connections, verify data integrity, benchmark performance, and maintain rollback options;
- Document & Transfer: Deliver runbooks, dashboards, maintenance schedules, and conduct knowledge-transfer sessions with internal teams;
- Maintain & Support: Provide ongoing optimization, backup/DR validation, and performance monitoring post-migration.
Must haves
- 5+ years of experience with database administration and migrations;
- Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL/MySQL;
- Proven experience migrating from AWS RDS to self-hosted solutions;
- Strong Linux system administration skills;

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Enterprise Supplier Quality Data Migration Specialist supports Enterprise Quality Management System through the migration and clean-up of Supplier Data available in the EtQ Supplier and Materials Module, as part of One Approved Supplier List (ASL) project. The successful candidate will possess the ability to evaluate and collaborate to determine the best path to migrate all the available information within the EtQ Supplier and Materials Module . The incumbent reports to the Manager, Supplier Quality- Americas. The Enterprise Supplier Quality Data Migration Specialist will prepare, extract, and transform existing Supplier data to support the future state records in the Supplier and Materials Module included but no limited to (Company Profile, Supplier Site Profile, Business Unit Site Profile and Supplier Attachments). Primary scope includes creation of new records within the EtQ Supplier and Materials Module and obsoletion of records when applicable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Partner with the Enterprise Supplier Quality Management team and the Digital Technology Solutions team to ensure in-scope data is appropriately organized in preparation for migration activities and execute in-scope data remediation efforts to close record gaps prior to data migration.
• Develop executional plans, milestones, and progress reports to communicate status of data remediation and organization efforts.
• Participate in business process data migration definition meetings and system interface templates with Process Lead as required to support data extraction.
• Prepare and deliver data transfer information in partnership with the Enterprise Supplier Quality Team according to project milestones.
• Work with cross functional and intradepartmental stakeholders to develop and execute data migration activities for in-scope documentation.
• Support the development of data validation planning.

We are looking for Data Migration Specialist who wants to learn and transform his career.
Job Description:
The Data Migration Specialist is responsible for transitioning and transforming data from legacy systems to new platforms. The specialist will ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility throughout the migration process, thus supporting the organization's strategic initiatives and operational efficiency. The professional will proactively identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a smooth and successful transition with minimal disruption to business operations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Data Migration and Transformation: Design and implement data migration processes. Develop scripts, ETL processes ( Extract, Transform, Load) and tools for data migration, adapted to the specific requirements of the project. Utilize SQL, data mapping, and transformation techniques to optimize efficiency.
- Data Integrity and Quality: Ensure data integrity and validation during the migration process. Perform regular audits and validation checks to verify the accuracy and completeness of the migrated data. Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) and adjust the migration approach as needed.
- Project and Risk Management: Plan and manage data migration projects, including resource allocation and schedule management. Identify and mitigate the risks associated with data migration, developing proactive strategies to address potential challenges.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensuring that data migration processes comply with industry standards and regulations. Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
- Documentation and Communication: Generate regular progress reports for stakeholders. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all data migration activities, ensuring transparency, accountability, and knowledge sharing.
Essential Requirements (Hard Skills):
- Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience. At least 5 years of experience in data migration and management.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Technical Tools and Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL and data migration tools like Talend, Informatica.
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) to manage and migrate data.
- Proven knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of ETL processes.
Soft Skills:
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Differentials (Nice to Have):
- Education: Master's degree in a related field.
- Certifications: Certification in data management (e.g., CDMP) or advanced certifications in data migration tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica).
- Knowledge: Experience with data migration to the cloud (AWS, Azure). Familiarity with agile project management methodologies. Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations.
- Languages: Ability to communicate in English and/or French is an asset.
